So psyched today! RockNRollBride.com just did a feature on our May 1st wedding (Alicia and Jack), showcasing our work as well as photographs from Carla Ten Eyck Photography. Based in Great Britain, Rock ‘n Roll Bride “promotes individuality and general awesomeness in a cookie cutter, pastel pink, poofy dressed wedding world.”

Where to start? Oh, I don’t know. I guess with, Holy S%$#, California couple Alicia and Jack are AWESOME! And their wedding rocked! Beginning with a pre-wedding photo tour of Hartford by none other than Carla Ten Eyck Photography, whose creativity and skillz meshed perfectly with Alicia and Jack’s edgy-yet-sophisticated style. If you don’t believe me, check out their stunning photos from the wedding here. I had a whole wedding’s worth of great footage before the ceremony even started! The ceremony and reception were both held at the G. Fox Room in Downtown Hartford, and again, was an awesome fit for this wedding. Jessica, the Sales Manager and Event Coordinator is really great to work with if you’re considering the G. Fox Room.

The last two years, I’ve had ridiculously good luck shooting March weddings! The ‘Murphy’s Law’ in me imagines late winter ice storms and similar nightmares, but it’s been great weather, great light, and really cool weddings! Gail and Scott’s big day was no exception. After a ceremony at St. Mary’s in Katonah, It was off to familiar territory at The Candlewood Inn in Brookfield, CT.

I got the chance to work with a new photographer also… Nick Carter. I checked out him out after the wedding, and he does really nice work. Plus, bonus points: he was great to work with and über-professional, so check him out.

Best wishes to the new bride and groom! I had a great time capturing your big day, and I hope you enjoy your highlight film.

OK, I know what you’re thinking… what’s better than getting to spend the day with great friends Eric and Amber Langlois of Raw Photo Design, shoot a ridiculously beautiful girl— scantily clad in sexy lingerie while she bounces from pose to pose— from the bed to the tub to the…

Ummm— what was I talking about again?

In all seriousness, Eric has taken boudoir photography to a whole new level… and the proof’s in the popularity. Whether it’s a gift for a groom the night before the wedding, or just a chance for someone to feel like a supermodel for a day — RAW Boudoir. say it again. Raw Boudoir.

Helping making the beautiful even more beautiful this day were Sue from Naomi’s Salon providing makeup, and Josie from Beneath the Gown, who provided the lingerie for the shoot.

Rebecca and Jeremy have such a cool chemistry together. You could see the nervousness of such a big day just slip away after their ‘first look’ before the ceremony. [For those not familiar, the 'first look' is an alternative to the bride and groom seeing each other for the first time as she walks down the aisle. It's a great opportunity to calm your nerves, have some private time before the day gets rollin', and makes for great footage/photos too!]

Speaking of footage, our use of the Canon 7D digital SLR will become continually more apparent in our work throughout the year, and we’ll probably be shooting with them almost exclusively by year’s end. [Feel free to ask if you have no idea what I'm talking about, but would like to learn more!]

I ventured to the studio of photographer Robert Norman on Tuesday to participate in his much celebrated PHODcast, which gives CT wedding vendors a forum to discuss/vent about/praise the wedding industry and the paths we’ve taken to get there. It was a lot of fun, and negotiations are in the works for the Robert & Tom Hour… a weekly show! (no, not really)

I guess by saying that the people and businesses listed below brought their talents, their enthusiasm, and their love of what they do to New Orleans for a 4-day photo shoot that was without a doubt the most fun and rewarding time I’ve ever spent with a camera in hand. The phrase ‘over the top’ just keeps popping into my head as I try to do it justice…

I’m totally cool with the knowledge that brides and grooms don’t always fully grasp just how unique a keepsake their wedding film is until, let’s say, their 10 year anniversary. Over time, as our memories fade and life changes for us all, what was once thought of as valuable becomes invaluable. From day one, Liz and Greg totally got it, which made the process with them that much more meaningful for me.

They were beyond awesome to work with, and their big day was beautiful. After the ceremony at St. Timothy’s in West Hartford, it was off to the elegant and historic Society Room. Carla Ten Eyck Photography, as usual, did a ridiculously awesome job on the photos. Click here to see their photos.

So a heartfelt congratulations to Liz and Greg, and to many years of continued success!

A story of a teacher who had her class write letters to soldiers through a program called Soldiers’ Angels. She herself had been assigned a soldier. If you’re starting to put the pieces together… then flash forward to a red eye to Tucson to finally meet her soldier in person after months of writing. As she began to tell the passenger next to her this story… others start to listen in, and by the end, she’s got a crowd of passengers leaning over seats, anxious to hear more (Picture Adam Sandler in the movie, The Wedding Singer). Then a deep voice from another row interupts… “Excuse me, are you Rachel? Because I was stationed in Afghanistan with Kristopher, and he’s been talking about you non-stop for 6 months!” Cheers erupt, and the next thing you know, a crowd of people are jogging through the terminal…   well, I’ll let Rachel tell you the rest:

The included interview footage was shot at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven.

Their wedding, held on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, was a fitting place for a military wedding. But no rest for the newly married couple… soon after, they set out for a long, I mean long, drive to Alaska where Kristopher had been assigned. So a big congratulations to the happy couple, and a bigger thank you to Kristopher and every soldier who has made sacrifices to keep us safe, and the military families back home who do the same.
